Unfortunately there are many web design agencies that are out to make a ‘Quick Buck!’, never moving with the times and concentrating more on their needs as apposed to the clients. For instance, some companies only want an ecommerce store because they think they should. If a client hasn't done the necessary research and believes that they need and on-line store because Mr Joe Bloggs has one, UntiedShoes* will inform the client of other options available...
I will advise a client that the costs involved may not bring in the return they think it would. It is far better, especially for small start up companies to start of small, then build up a site as time goes on.. not putting ‘all your eggs in one basket’ so to speak.
If a client wants a Flash intro because he has seen one on Mr Joe Bloggs website and thinks it’s ‘GREAT’, I will inform the client of the search engine restrictions associated with such an Intro and that it would be far better to have a link from within the website saying ‘view out interactive presentation here’.

Most clients all most always think that developing a web site using standards compliant developers is going to be expensive... this is simply not the case, what is sure is that if a client uses a developer working within the standards set out, the final web site will be of a much higher caliber for roughly the same price and there will never be accessibility problems.
