One Umbraco platform. Multiple college services.
Brought the college website, course and vacancies catalogues, staff intranet and learner hub together within a centrally managed, multilingual Umbraco platform.
A multilingual digital platform designed to bring essential information and services together for students, staff and the wider college community.
Working collaboratively across marketing and IT, the project centred on creating a flexible, centrally managed Umbraco platform that could support the college’s public-facing website alongside its course and vacancies catalogues, staff intranet and learner hub.
The result was a more joined-up approach to managing digital content, supporting different audiences and making information easier to organise, maintain and access.
A further education college serves a diverse community, with different audiences needing access to different types of information and services.
Prospective students need to explore courses and opportunities. Existing learners need clear, accessible information to support their studies. Staff need relevant internal resources, while the marketing and IT teams need a manageable way to maintain content across the organisation.
The challenge was to bring these needs together within a coherent digital approach without making content management unnecessarily complicated.
The platform needed to support multiple audiences, structured information and multilingual content, while giving the college a foundation that could evolve alongside its requirements.
Rather than treating each digital service as an isolated solution, the approach brought the college’s principal digital touchpoints together within a centrally managed Umbraco environment.
The public website provided the outward-facing experience, supported by structured course and vacancies information. Internal services extended the platform’s reach to staff and learners.
This created a more consistent foundation for publishing and maintaining information across the college’s digital estate.
The CMS needed to accommodate content for different language audiences while giving editors a practical way to manage and maintain the relevant information. A structured content model and clear editorial processes helped support this requirement.
The aim was to make multilingual publishing part of the content management approach, rather than treating each language as an entirely separate digital experience.
The Henley College Coventry project reflects an enduring principle of digital platform development: the technology is only one part of the solution.
A central destination for college information, helping prospective students, learners and visitors find relevant content and navigate the college’s services.
Structured information to support the discovery of courses and opportunities, making these important areas of the college’s offering easier to organise and present.
An internal digital destination for staff information and resources, extending the platform beyond the public website.
A dedicated digital touchpoint for learners, helping bring relevant information and services into a more coherent online experience.
A content management approach designed to support information in multiple languages and provide a more consistent way to maintain language-specific content.
The project established a joined-up digital foundation for the college, combining public-facing content and internal services within a centrally managed platform.
Its value lay in connecting the needs of different audiences with the practical realities of content management and technical delivery.
A more coherent digital estate: public and internal services brought together through a common platform approach.
More structured information: course and vacancies content organised around the needs of its audiences.
Multilingual capability: support for publishing and maintaining content for different language audiences.
A shared foundation for teams: a platform approach that considered both marketing workflows and IT management.
Room to evolve: a flexible CMS foundation that could accommodate changing content and organisational requirements.
